Cognos Launches e-Business Intelligence UnitDedicated to delivering packaged e-business applications that provide rapid corporate investment returns, Cognos created the e-Business Intelligence Applications Business Unit. The unit will focus on a growing market created by enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and supply-chain management deployments.“Strategically, this represents an important market opportunity for Cognos,” says Terry Hall, Cognos chief operating officer. “We believe the business unit is the optimum organizational approach to effect quick and aggressive market penetration within major new markets.”e-Business Intelligence Applications currently available from Cognos include Cognos e-Applications for sales, distribution, and finance, and Cognos Finance, an integrated consolidation, budgeting, and planning application.Long-time Cognos employee Alan Rottenberg will head the unit as senior vice president.
