Active Software to Acquire TransLink Software

In a deal valued at $75 million in cash and stock options, Active Software announced plans to acquire TransLink Software, a provider of high-performance mainframe integration solutions for e-business.

In a deal valued at $75 million in cash and stock options, Active Software announced plans to acquire TransLink Software, a provider of high-performance mainframe integration solutions for e-business.TransLink will provide Active Software customers with expertise and products for integrating vital data and business logic stored in mainframe systems. The combination of TransLink's software and Active Software’s ActiveWorks Business Exchange Server will let Active Software customers automate end-to-end business processes within the enterprise, with business-to-business trading partners, and with customers across the Internet.“It is estimated that more than 70 percent of corporate data is maintained on mainframe systems,” says Joel Rosenberger, TransLink Software’s founder and vice president of research and development. “Combining Active Software and TransLink provides rapid mainframe connectivity to a wide range of platforms, enabling organizations to truly leverage the mainframe environment in their overall e-business initiatives.”
