Q. The Digital Signatures tab does not appear in the properties dialog box of a digitally signed file that is larger than 400 MB in Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2)?

With a digitally signed .EXE file that is larger than approximately 400 MB, Windows XP SP2 may not display the Digital Signatures tab in the properties dialog. When you install this .EXE, you may receive a security warning about the publisher being unknown.

To workaround this issue, you can use the Chktrust.exe (Certificate Verification Tool) tool, from .NET Framework 1.x, or the SignTool.exe (Sign Tool) utility, from .NET Framework 2.0 or later.

NOTE: You can also use catalog signing instead of binary signing to sign the file. See MakeCat.
