JSI Tip 1207. How can I recreate default icons which were deleted from the desktop?

The following procedure works for:

   Icon name               Key name   --------------------------------------------------------------   Inbox                   {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}   Recycle Bin             {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}   The Internet            {FBF23B42-E3F0-101B-8488-00AA003E56F8}   -  NOT Active Desktop

1. Use REGEDIT to navigate to the apprpriate Key name (above) at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID

2. Right-click the key and select Rename, to open the edit box, highlighting the 32 character Key name.

3. Press CTRL+INSERT to copy the Key name to the clipboard.

4. Navigate to:

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrentversionexplorerdesktopamespace

5. Select the namespace key and right click, choosing New / Key.

6. Press SHIFT+INSERT to paste in the Key name from step 3.

7. Double-click (default) (in the right hand pane) and type the Icon name.

8. Log off/ log on for the changes to take effect.
