Part of an ongoing series, we're highlighting the excellent speakers we have handpicked to present phenomenal and extremely valuable content at the IT/Dev Connections conference. Want more? Get the Insider’s Scoop About IT/Dev Connections 2016 on September 8!
This speaker highlight is John Savill.
John's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked John to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.
John: My name is John Savill and while I started out as a VAX/VMS systems administrator when I was 18 I quickly was introduced to NT 3.1 and shortly after started ntfaq.com to help cement my own knowledge and help others. I still write content for the site today in addition to writing numerous blogs, creating videos on my YouTube channel and speaking at events both live and online.
ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.
John: I’m presenting a number of sessions around Windows Server 2016 including the Top Ten 2016 features and Hyper-V in 2016 and also a session on the new Azure Resource Manager and then a whole day workshop on PowerShell. I think it’s vital to understand new capabilities or you really don’t get the advantage of new versions as you carry on performing operations the same way as ten years ago and missing out on better methods. As for PowerShell, it’s at the root of everything in today’s IT and enables not only a powerful command line interface but also the ability to automate pretty much any task required.
ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?
John: The latest information around the topic areas and be able to take that knowledge and use it for your organization.
ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?
John: Great opportunity to share information and learn from some of the industry’s best and brightest.
ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?
John: Public cloud.
ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.
John: Right now I’m training for my third full length Ironman which is always a challenge. Never share what irks you with others ;-)
