System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager and Intune: Setup and Deployment Notes from the Field, with a Focus on Single Sign-On

This session dives into what you'll do at the server level to drive System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager and Windows Intune integration for mobile device management. The session includes real-life experience from the field to set up a subscription, connectors, certificates, Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS 2.0/2.1/3.0), DirSync, and workplace join scenarios among all possible server configurations that enable mobile device management. Learn best practices for setting up AD FS from the field for user authentication and Single Sign-On; prepare for the challenges if you invested in previous AD FS 2.0/2.1 and want to take advantage of AD FS 3.0; discuss common processes related to Intune setup; and learn how to validate and troubleshoot your setup.

Managing Your Hybrid Mobile Cloud Workforce with System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager

Do you need to manage Windows 8.1/RT, including non-Microsoft mobile devices, with Microsoft's UDM solution (Configuration Manager 2012 R2 plus Intune)? Do you need to provide functionality for deploying the new Intune extensions (such as email profiles), managing your MDM settings, configuring VPN and wireless profiles, and deploying certificates? Compliance settings, company resource access, and Intune extensions delivered in Configuration Manager are mostly unexplored territory for the Configuration Manager administrator. In this session we'll use numerous demos to demystify these features.

Recently, we asked Kenny to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:

WITPRO: Give us a brief introduction to yourself.

Kenny: My Name is Kenny Buntinx and I consider myself a highly qualified, certified and energized consultant with more than 15 years of experience and strives to always deliver high quality when managing and delivering projects. I have a strong focus on the Microsoft System Center product family and am an industry expert in the System Center Enterprise Client Management space. I have a deep technical background with a track record in "Enterprise Client Management" architecture and "Unified Mobile Device Management" expertise. 

Additionally I believe strongly in sharing knowledge amongst my peers and therefore co-founded the System Center User Group Belgium. A quote I like a lot: “Knowledge always has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes.” 

As an industry expert and Most Valued Professional (MVP), I am a frequent speaker and ask-the-expert guest at both national and international events. When I finally get some spare time on my hands, family and biking have top priority. I just like being outdoors enjoying nature and wild life.

WITPRO: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?

Kenny: As enterprises begin moving from device-centric models to become more people-centric they need to be able to support users who depend on multiple devices without IT having the necessary full control over the devices on a daily basis to get their jobs done--and they want their data, applications, and settings to follow them wherever they go in the enterprise, but IT wants to have control over what happens to that corporate data. A lot of different technologies will intervene and it will be all about real live examples in our sessions, learning to keep solutions as simply as possible and yet powerful enough to get the job done correctly. That's exactly what my presentations will show you how to do so.

WITPRO: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT Connections?

Kenny: It’s an opportunity for me to talk with a large group people and share my community knowledge. It’s a great way to show my dedication to System Center Configuration Manager with Windows Intune and how enterprises can benefit by that portfolio of products in real live. 

Apart from that it will not be my first time to Vegas, as a MMS veteran, but I will be the first time at the IT/Dev conference so looking forward to the new experience and to meet new people in different areas of expertise.

WITPRO: What is the one key technology you believe is changing IT right now?

Kenny: Workplace landscape (Cloud with O365, Mobile devices, VDI technology, app delivery with a strong focus on identity)

WITPRO: Do you think Satya Nadella can rebuild Microsoft into a Cloud powerhouse?

Kenny: No idea actually , I’ll say 50% chance … The shift has been made and we will eventually get there ( look at O365), however I think companies aren’t moving that fast as Microsoft is thinking it is going to happen.

WITPRO: To get to know the real you, give us one thing about yourself you believe will be of most interest to attendees.

Kenny: As a founder of the System Center User Group Belgium, I like to share my knowledge and see how this is beneficial for everyone. My blog entries are there for 2 reasons: 1) share knowledge that is not so common and 2) being my electronic brain because I forget things rapidly.
