A new $25 million data center opened today at the Philadelphia Technology Park, a new facility located in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The 25,700 square foot data center is owned by Enterprise Technology Parks, which also operates the Baltimore Technology Park, and will serve a target market of businesses, universities and non-profits in Philadelphia, south jersey and Wilmington.
"This expansion into Philadelphia will allow us to provide companies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with a secure and redundant data center for all of their colocation infrastructure needs," said Corey Blanton, President of the Philadelphia Technology Park.
"Philadelphia Technology Park is one of the highest density data centers in the region, with multiple layers of physical security, camera surveillance with digital storage, FM200 fire suppression and biometric access points," said Blanton. "Our number one goal is to safely house a company's mission critical data so they can free up their time to focus on their core competencies, invest their valuable capital in growing their business and have peace-of-mind."
The opening of the data center builds on the redevelopment of the The Navy Yard, located in south Philly along the Delaware River in a Keystone Opportunity Improvement Zone (KIOZ) of the City, which offers colocation customers the possibility to qualify for tax abatements.
"We are thrilled that Philadelphia Technology Park has chosen to locate its 21st Century facility here", said Will Agate, Vice President with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, which manages The Navy Yard on behalf of the City of Philadelphia. "As one of the premier data center offerings in the entire Philadelphia region, the services and expertise that Philadelphia Technology Park provides are critical for the city and region as corporations grow and need a trusted partner to house their IT infrastructure. At this exciting time for The Navy Yard, PIDC is busy assembling as many business amenities within the property as is feasible and we know that our present and future businesses that are located here will benefit by Philadelphia Technology Park's services to a significant degree."
