Expedient Announces New Ohio Data Center update from August 2010

It's already a busy week for the data center market in the state of Ohio. Today Expedient Communications, the colocation and managed hosting arm of Continental Broadband, announced plans to expand into the Columbus, Ohio market with a new data center facility that will open on January 1, 2011. The announcement comes a day after Involta broke ground on a new data center in Akron, Ohio.

The new Expedient facility at 5000 Arlington Center in Upper Arlington and will be the company's first data center in the Columbus market and the eighth data center the company operates across six cities under three  brand names. Expedient also operates data centers are located in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis (under the nFrame), Boston and Baltimore (as DataPoint).

"We believe that Columbus is the next logical place for us to expand, as we already have successful, growing and fully capable operations in the surrounding markets of Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis," said Bryan Smith Regional Vice President of Expedient. "Expedient will be the only service provider in the market with regionally diverse data centers, all offering a full complement of managed services and connectivity as part of our product suite."

The property in Upper Arlington was used as a company data center by the previous owners, but Expedient will invest "millions of dollars" in improvements. When complete, the facility will include approximately 8,000 square feet of raised-floor computing space.
