Q: Can I still use data deduplication available in Windows Server 2012 if I BitLocker-protect the volume?
A: Windows Server 2012 introduced a block-level data deduplication capability that can help save disk space by removing duplicate data. BitLocker provides a volume-level encryption for volumes. BitLocker is entirely transparent to the data deduplication capability, which means data deduplication can be used with BitLocker with no ill effects.
