UR3 for DPM 2012 R2 Breaks Command-line Backup, Replacement File Now Available

DPMbackup (DpmBackup.exe) is a command-line utility included with System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 (DPM). It enables administrators to automate the creation of backups for the DPM primary and reporting databases. Using command-line switches it can also create and mount backup shadow copies for the replica volumes stored on the DPM server.

When Update Rollup 3 (UR3) released for DPM 2012 R2, the DPMbackup command no longer worked completely. Instead of fixing UR3 directly, Microsoft has made available a fixed-up Dpmbackup.exe that can be downloaded and used to replace the incompatible version, based on bug reports in the Microsoft forums.

The fixed version is available here: DPMbackup (DpmBackup.exe)
