I'm trying to use VERITAS Software's VERITAS Backup Exec 9.1 to back up Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 while taking advantage of the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). VERITAS claims that Backup Exec supports this option, but I can't discover how to enable it. Can you help me?

Configuring Backup Exec 9.1 to take advantage of VSS can make a huge difference in recovery time when restoring an Exchange 2003 database. VERITAS did a good job making Backup Exec 9.1 VSS-aware but didn't do such a good job clarifying that to take advantage of the feature, you must purchase the VERITAS Backup Exec Advanced Open File Option (which costs about $400). After you purchase and enable this agent, you'll be able to take advantage of VSS in your backup process. For more information about the option, see http://www.veritas.com/Products/www?c=option&refId=72&productId=57.
