A. Novell currently has available the Certified Novell Administrator (CNA), Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), Master CNE (MCNE), Certified Directory Engineer (CDE), Certified Novell Instructor (CNI), Certified Novell Salesperson (CNS), and Certified Internet Professional (CIP) certifications.

The CNA is an entry-level certification that you receive after successfully passing one CNA exam in a given area of interest.

After you pass the CNA exam, you can elect to take five or six more exams (depending on your track) to become a CNE. This certification is somewhat equivalent to Microsoft's MCSE.

To become a MCNE, you must be a CNE (in any track) and then pass one required and three elective exams. Becoming a MCNE grants you privileges not available to anyone else, including CNEs.

The CDE is Novell's most prestigious certification and requires you to already possess a senior certification such as CNE, MCSE, or CCNP. This certification is noteworthy by the online, hands-on directory exam, which requires you to repair an actual directory in a given time frame.

For more information about the specific requirements for each certification and to get up-to-date information on Novell certifications, visit the Novell Education site.
