Equinix (EQIX) announced that managed infrastructure as a service provider Unitas Global has selected Platform Equinix in Singapore and Sydney, Australia to support its global business expansion.
Unitas supports over 100 customers currently with its IT Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering, and the expansion will allow the company to securely reach cloud service providers and enterprise customers operating in Equinix data centers across the Asia-Pacific region. By selecting Equinix, Unitas will gain access to a data center environment that connects an ecosystem of network and cloud computing service providers in the region.
"We wanted to work with a service provider who could serve as our gateway to Asia-Pacific and help accelerate our business growth in the region," said Grant Kirkwood, chief executive officer at Unitas Global. "We chose to work with Equinix because of its strategic locations in the region, rich customer and partner global ecosystem as well as its track record of operational excellence and the reliability of its IBX data centers, all of which will help us assemble best-in-class services for our customers."
Last month Unitas announced the formal launch of its visual effects rendering solution after the successful implementation for two of Hollywood's premier filmmakers. Unitas Global provides visual effects studios the ability to obtain the necessary render capacity they require without the need for capital expenditure, allowing them to pay for the capacity that they need on-demand
Pinger selects Unitas
Earlier this week Unitas announced it has deployed managed dedicated services for Pinger in Dallas and Miami in the US and Singapore. Pinger makes a texting and talking app for iPhone and Android, as well as a web client, and is installed on 21 percent of iPhone iOS devices. Providing the communications service requires a reliable and disparate global infrastructure to support the demand of users seeking cost-effective and high quality communications. The data center locations Unitas was able to offer was a key decision point for Pinger.
"By providing Pinger with managed dedicated hosting solutions in certain key markets, we are able to support the growth and demand of its network services in a more scalable and affordable way than traditional IT services companies," said Kirkwood. "With more users requiring higher quality services for less money, it was important for Pinger to ensure ease of connectivity through centrally located Points of Presence and high traffic regions to enable global communications"”
