Prepare Your Move to Windows Azure with the New Readiness Assessment

Designed to be run from a desktop computer against a set of target servers, Microsoft has released and assessment tool that allows companies to test readiness for Active Directory, SharePoint Server, and SQL Server as viable candidates for full migration to Windows Azure.

The tool supports Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 and requires a fully qualified domain connection.

When run, the tool inspects the on-premise environment and then provides reports that are then stored in the My Documents folder structure on the computer the assessment is run. The reports give guidance and recommendations for moving on-premise services directly to Windows Azure. It will not initiate or manage any migrations, just allow for a proper review to be included in any migrations plans.
