Q: How can I tell which versions of Linux are supported in Windows Azure?
A: Although many different operating systems actually run in Windows Azure, Microsoft has a list of Linux distributions that are endorsed for Windows Azure. You can find this list on Microsoft's "Linux on Azure-Endorsed Distributions" web page. For most of these Linux distributions, the Windows Azure portal contains a number of pre-built images, for easy deployment.
