TechEd is Now (Drum Roll)... Microsoft Ignite!
Microsoft's replacement event for 6 different conferences finally gets a name!
October 16, 2014
Just a little late on the announcement (expected at the end of September), but Microsoft has now unveiled the name of its multi-conference replacement. The new event is called Microsoft Ignite seeks to pull together 6 different events with 6 very different communities, including SharePoint, Exchange, Lync, Project, MMS, and TechEd.
Microsoft Ignite will take place in Chicago from May 4-8 in 2015. Featured speakers include Satya Nadella (Chief Executive Officer), Brad Anderson (Corporate Vice President, Enterprise Client & Mobility), Julie Larson-Green (Chief Experience Officer, Applications and Services Group), Dave Campbell (Chief Technology Officer, Cloud & Enterprise), Joe Belfiore (Corporate Vice President, PC, Tablet and Phone), and Peggy Johnson (Executive Vice President, Business Development).
The site is already live and early-bird registration is open: Microsoft Ignite
I have to say the name is fantastic, and is heads above anything Microsoft was proposing just a couple months ago when they asked for customer feedback on names.
You can also follow the news about the new event on Twitter and Facebook. The Twitter hashtag to follow is: #msignite
Microsoft Ignite also has an Instagram page, and a profile page on Google+.
To celebrate Microsoft Ignite, Microsoft general manager Julia White will participate in a press conference with the City of Chicago today, where Mayor Emanuel will welcome Microsoft and the new event to the city. Tune into the press conference livestream at 11:30am PT. An on-demand version will be made available following the event here.
In addition to today's Microsoft Ignite announcement, the company has finalized information about its other conferences in 2015. They are:
Build in San Francisco – April 29-May 1.
Convergence 2015 in Atlanta, March 16-19.
The Worldwide Partner Conference in Orlando, July 12-16.
P.S. I'll provide more commentary on Microsoft Ignite soon. I just wanted to get this out there and let you all know about it.
