Q. Can I redirect URLs in a remote session with Remote Desktop Session Host to open in a local browser?

A. Even when publishing applications with Remote Desktop Services (RDS), an entire session is created on the Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) but only the pixels of the application window are sent to your desktop to integrate seamlessly with local applications. If you select a hyperlink to a URL in a published application then that link will open in a browser in that remote session as well and not in your local browser. There may be instances where it is desirable for the URLs to open in your local browser, this is known as URL redirection. At time of writing this features is not available in Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services. It is available in Citrix XenApp 7 and above if that is a requirement.
