How can I tell if I need a faster CPU?

A. You use Performance Monitor (Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Performance Monitor) to see how much time the computer is waiting to use the CPU:
Start Performance Monitor
Click the "+" button (if you cannot see a title bar press Ctlr-T)
From the dropdown Object box select System
Select "Processor Queue Length" from the counters
Monitor the system for a typical day of work, and if the counter exceeds 2 then you should consider a faster processor
