Creating Better Business ROI with Converged Infrastructure

Organizations of all sizes are taking a big step back and evaluating their current data center ecosystems. They’re looking at all of the critical components that deliver applications, desktop and other valuable resources to the end user. The big challenge today revolves around removing legacy systems to enable the rest of the data center. But where do you create these efficiencies? How do you migrate off of older gear economically? Most of all, how can you ensure better ROI for the business with a modern data center?

Enter converged infrastructure, which is enabling organizations to create better business economics and improved ROI in the following ways:

  • Reduction of risk. Converged infrastructure is deployed in pre-validated blocks of architecture that are referenced and tested to work with a variety of deployment scenarios—including companies’ specific use cases. This helps reduce deployment complexity, lower the risk of making a mistake and ensure that the system you are buying deploys properly—and at scale.

  • Speed of deployment. Because these are referenced and validated pieces of architecture, they can be sized. VDI for 500 users? No problem--you can get a converged infrastructure block designed to support that number (plus a few more, of course) as a validated, deployment-ready, component.

  • Hosting and workload versatility. Virtual applications, desktops, big data, databases, virtual workloads and number of other types of solutions can be hosted on a converged infrastructure platform. You can do things like graphics optimization, workload control and even integration with cloud systems. The beauty of CI revolves around its flexibility. In the past, heavily virtualized workloads needed their own specific resources to function properly. Now, converged infrastructure creates a platform in which traditional applications and even VDI can live on the same ecosystem--all managed from one environment.

  • Next-generation multi-tenancy. A great way to create better ROI is to efficiently place more users on less gear. Converged infrastructure gives users this option by combining key resources into one management plane. With converged infrastructure, you create a mechanism that can host apps, desktops and a variety of other end users-focused use cases. This means you can support more users while still reducing your overall data center footprint.

  • Better management integration. Fragmentation and infrastructure complexity can lead to downtime and management challenges. Converged infrastructure not only integrates with underlying virtualization systems, but it also allows you to create a much more efficient data center management environment.

There’s no question that the modern data center will continue to shape and evolve. We’re supporting more digitization, a much more mobile user and changing business demands.

Converged infrastructure gives organizations the option to change the way they deploy infrastructure within their data centers. These new platforms are more mature and are capable of being applied to more business use cases. Most of all--based on the thoughts above--converged infrastructure creates improved business and data center economics. Remember, this kind of infrastructure will help change the pace at which businesses evolve--and allow you to keep pace with the market.

Part of HPE’s Power of One strategy, HPE Converged Architecture 700 delivers infrastructure as one integrated stack. HPE Converged Architecture 700 delivers proven, repeatable building blocks of infrastructure maintained by one management platform (HPE OneView), built and delivered exclusively by qualified HPE Channel Partners. This methodology saves considerable time and resources, compared to the do-it-yourself (DIY) approach.

Based on a complete HPE stack consisting of HPE BladeSystem with Intel® Xeon® E5 v3-based HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen9 blades, HPE 3PAR StoreServ all-flash storage, HPE Networking, and HPE OneView infrastructure management software, the HPE Converged Architecture 700 can be easily modified to fit within your existing IT environment.
