Pro Tip: Track Microsoft Azure Services Status via RSS Feeds

If you have already made the move to Microsoft's Azure cloud and need to keep an eye on the status of different services from within Azure that your company uses there are a couple of options available to you.

First is the main Microsoft Azure Status Portal located at

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/status/

You can set this page to refresh the current status of Azure services across all of their regions in increments of 2, 5, 10 and 30 minutes. The chart displays the various services organized by their broader category with each region represented.

As you can see in the legend at the top of this image, the portal reports one of four statuses for each service/region - Good, Warning, Error and Information.

The Microsoft Azure Status Portal is broken down into these categories and services:

You may have noticed an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) icon next to each of the individual services listing. You can subscribe to these feeds using your favorite RSS reader and you will see the latest updates on that service if it has any issues.

Note: These feeds will normally appear empty when the Azure service is healthy so you should only expect them to update when there are reported issues. After an outage or incident they will once again be empty until the next issue crops up.

If you want to take a look at past issues with any of the Azure services just visit the Azure Status Portal History page.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.

I previously hosted the Observed Tech PODCAST for 10 years and 317 episodes and now host a new podcast called Faith, Tech, and Space.

I began contributing to Penton Technology websites in January 2015 and in April 2017 I was hired as the Senior Content Producer for Penton Technology which is now Informa Tech. In that role, I contribute to ITPro Today and cover operating systems, enterprise technology, and productivity.
