EMET 5.5 Exits Beta, Now Fully Sanctioned to Mitigate Attacks
EMET 5.5 has exited beta and is now available as the most current mitigation tool.
February 1, 2016
Last December Microsoft delivered version 5.5 of its Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) into beta. Now, after what seems a ridiculously short beta cycle, EMET 5.5 has now been stripped of the beta moniker and released as a full-fledged tool to help protect against potential attackers.
Here’s what’s new with the official release:
Windows 10 compatibility
Improved configuration of various mitigations via GPO
Improved writing of the mitigations to the registry, making it easier to leverage existing tools to manage EMET mitigations via GPO
EAF/EAF+ perf improvements
Untrusted font mitigation for Windows 10
