Worldwide Partner Conference - Day 1 Keynote Wrap Up #WPC16

Microsoft kicked off their annual Worldwide Partner Conference today in Toronto with a keynote featuring their CEO Satya Nadella talking about partner multiple partner opportunities.

According to Microsoft this is the first time the event has sold out as they are hosting over 16,000 partners at this week's event.

Of course, as you might imagine, the core subject was the Microsoft Cloud and how it can help partners maximize their services and reach new customers.

Interestingly there was no onstage demo of Windows 10 today so it might show up in tomorrows second and final keynote to show off some of the Anniversary Updates new features since this major update is expected in just a few weeks.

Otherwise, there were only a few on stage demos during this initial keynote.

One involved Microsoft's data tools and a partnership with water management company EcoLab and another was a HoloLens demo of new tools Japan Airlines have built on Microsoft's virtual reality platform for training jet engine mechanics.

Another part of the keynote involved a sit down discussion between Nadella and GE CEO Jeff Immelt and howa new partnership between the companies is helping GE is bring their Predix platform to Microsoft Azure as part of the Industrial Internet.

The on demand replay of today's keynote is already posted at http://news.microsoft.com/wpc2016/ and that portal is your best spot for gaining access for news and other information from the conference.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.

I previously hosted the Observed Tech PODCAST for 10 years and 317 episodes and now host a new podcast called Faith, Tech, and Space.

I began contributing to Penton Technology websites in January 2015 and in April 2017 I was hired as the Senior Content Producer for Penton Technology which is now Informa Tech. In that role, I contribute to ITPro Today and cover operating systems, enterprise technology, and productivity.
