Windows 10 Anniversary Update Receives its First Public Cumulative Update

Last week Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to the general public and it became the Current Branch release and is now known as Windows 10 Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.10).

Now today, just one week later, it is time for the August 2016 Patch Tuesday and like the clockwork that Windows as a Service (WaaS) is we have the first public cumulative update for the Current Branch of Windows 10.

If you are on Windows 10 Build 14393.10 you should find a patch in Windows Update beginning today that is labeled Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3176495) and it contains a collection of security patches, performance tweaks and bug fixes.

According to Microsoft, there are no new operating system features in this cumulative update bit it does address the following:

  • Improved reliability for Internet Explorer 11.

  • Addressed issue to keep pen click settings after updating to Windows 10 Version 1607.

  • Addressed issue that may cause Windows 10 Mobile devices to hang after turning Bluetooth on and off very quickly.

  • Security updates to Kernel Mode Drivers, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11, and Windows Authentication Methods.

The patch also contained these security related patches:

  • 3177356 MS16-095: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer: August 9, 2016

  • 3177358 MS16-096: Cumulative security update for Microsoft Edge: August 9, 2016

  • 3177393 MS16-097: Security update for Microsoft graphics component: August 9, 2016
