VMware Replaces CEO Paul Maritz

Although no official announcement has been made at this time it’s expected that VMware will replace Paul Maritz as CEO. Formerly with Intel and Microsoft, Maritz acted as CEO of VMware since 2008 replacing co-founder and CEO Diane Greene. Rumors for the move include dropping earnings after an unpopular price increase in 2011 that set some customers looking for cheaper alternatives like Microsoft’s Hyper-V. It’s expected that VMware will replace Maritz with former Intel exec and EMC COO Pat Gelsinger before their July 23rd earnings announcement.
