VMware names Gelsinger new CEO, Maritz moves to new technology strategist role at EMC

As part of their July 17th earning announcement VMware ended recent rumors by confirming that they will name EMC COO and ex-Intel exec Pat Gelsinger as CEO of VMware. They also announced that current CEO Paul Maritz formerly with Microsoft will take on a new role of technology strategist at EMC and will remain on the VMware board of directors. VMware also projected record quarterly revenues of approximately $1.12 billion which is up 22 % over Q2 2011. In addition, VMware announced that they expect their full-year 2012 revenues to be between $4.54 billion and $4.64 billion.
