Q: I have an application snapped to the side on my Xbox One; how do I close it and switch focus between the snapped and main application?

A: Xbox One has a nice ability to snap an application to the side of the screen (very reminiscent of Windows 8), which is useful in a number of scenarios—for example, quickly launching the party application to invite people to your game of Destiny. But how do you close that snapped application or switch between the snapped application and the main application? It's actually very simple. Using voice, you can say, "Xbox unsnap." Alternatively, you can perform the following steps:

  1. Press the Xbox button twice.

  2. This will bring up a mini menu, as the following figure shows. Push right to move focus to the snapped application or left to move focus to the main application.

  3. Once the snapped application is in focus, press the B button to close.

There are also hand gestures to control the snapping actions.
