Telerik, a provider of developer productivity and content management solutions, announced the release of Sitefinity 4.0, the latest edition of its content management system (CMS). Sitefinity 4.0 features a redesigned architecture supporting enhancements such as advanced workflow control to improve business process management and ease-of-use improvements, to make website developers more productive.
Sitefinity 4.0's redesign incorporates various upgrades for the development community, such as an open, fluent, and fully exposed API to enable product extensibility and customizability. The back end has also been AJAXified for improved performance. In addition, Telerik has improved Sitefinity's task-oriented UI, to make browsing and inline editing easier and has added capabilities that let non-technical personnel quickly perform tasks that formerly needed developers' help, such asbutton and banner localization, minor page layout changes, and workflow settings updates.
Sitefinity 4.0 incorporates more than 100 ASP.NET AJAX and Silverlight UI controls from Telerik's RadControls developer productivity tools collection. Sitefinity 4.0 features a new Project Manager, which streamlines installation, deployment, and upgrade processes. Other new developer-oriented features in Sitefinity 4.0 are:
• Enhanced workflow management capabilities and seamless Windows Workflow Foundation integration
• Improved widget controls layout and output modifications via the Widget Template Editor
• Advanced facet and network taxonomies support
• Starter Kits with premade site architecture, content, components, and customizable widgets
• Support for more granular permissions
In conjunction with the Sitefinity 4.0 announcement, Telerik announced its recent acquisition of Mallsoft, a developer of e-commerce shopping cart technologies.
