TechEd 2014: New Disaster Recovery Features in Microsoft Azure

During the TechEd North America keynote in Houston, Texas, Microsoft announced two new disaster recovery features for Microsoft Azure, which will help customers to better protect their data. The announcements made at TechEd this year were an effort by Microsoft to ease customers' worries and to put their trust in enterprise cloud computing.

The first new feature is Microsoft Azure Site Recovery, formerly known as Hyper-V Recovery Manager, and provides enhanced and cost-effective disaster recovery in the cloud. With this new feature that's available in preview next month, users can replicate and recover virtual machines (VMs) and services to Azure in the event of an outage at their primary datacenter.

The second feature is the Microsoft Antimalware for Azure, which is now available in preview. It lets users install an anti-malware agent for both cloud services and VMs. Microsoft also announced two solutions with Symantec and Trend Micro that integrate with Azure VMs, where you'll be able to find more information on SQL Server Pro soon.
