Partnership will let enterprises access cloud apps via mobile devices using Symplified’s cloud identity platform
November 2, 2011
Security-as-a-service provider Symplified has formed a partnership with IT consulting firm Solstice Consulting to address the security of private and public cloud applications accessed using smartphones and tablets by enterprise users.
Under the deal, Solstice will provide customized mobile security implementations based on Symplified's cloud identity and access management (IAM) service. Symplified Mobile Edition extends IAM capabilities to mobile devices without the need to install any software on the endpoint—a particularly important point considering the number of enterprise employees who access corporate IT resources via their own personal mobile devices that may or may not be security-equipped, and that IT managers can’t always keep complete track of. In announcing the partnership, the companies referred to the trend as “the consumerization of IT, and its offspring BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).”
Symplified Mobile Edition, delivered as a cloud service, can secure cloud and web applications on any mobile device, provide single sign-on and create a secure audit trail so that enterprises can make corporate data accessible on tablets and smartphones. Solstice’s Mobile Security practice contributes by providing security architecture design for mobile web and native applications, integration services for IAM, application protection, vulnerability testing, and mobile data encryption.
