Total Running Time: 175 min

Silverlight: You’ve seen the beautiful user interfaces and you've seen the gratuitous animations. Silverlight runs in the browser, but not just any browser--it's cross platform. And it spans devices from computers to the phone. You might not be doing it now, but you'll do it eventually. You'll build rich Internet applications (RIA) in Silverlight. It's just a matter of time. Silverlight adoption is soaring; it's the most widely and quickly adopted developer technology in Microsoft history. And Microsoft has confirmed its commitment to Silverlight with the announcement that Silverlight will be native on the Windows 7 Phone Series.

Silverlight is the next generation of user experience (UX) technologies for the web. This eLearning event will help excite you about the capabilities of these UX technologies and provide guidance on how to learn these technologies and get up to speed and proficient quickly.

In three technical presentations, you’ll get everything you need to flatten the Silverlight learning curve. You'll see:

  • demonstrations of the tools and platform you need to develop Silverlight applications successfully

  • demonstrations of real applications to show what can be done with this next generation of software applications

  • demonstrations of code in a fully functional reference and guidance application

So, you'll not only learn how to start building Silverlight applications and what it takes to be successful, but also you'll be able to download the fully functional Silverlight reference application used in the presentations. This reference application is a learning tool built to use the AdventureWorks 2008 sample database that is publicly available from Microsoft.

Session 1: Jump into Silverlight and Become Effective Immediately
