SharePoint Accelerator added to Skelta BPM tool - 27 Jan 2011 update from January 2011

Skelta, the Indian BPM specialist snapped up by British technology giant Invensys last April, has released Skelta BPM 2011, the latest version of its flagship solution with new SharePoint capabilities.

Skelta BPM 2011 includes an extension to SharePoint 2010, Skelta SharePoint Accelerator 2011, that lets users build processes that span across SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010 and third-party systems. There are also document management enhancements, the addition of customisable business dashboards and web parts, and support for custom controls.

Invensys Skelta's Windows-based BPM software is used by around 700 customers across verticals like financials, government and business process outsourcing to build horizontal solutions such as accounts payable, document management, compliance management, HRIS and other business processes.

BPM has rapidly gained its place within enterprises for a simple reason: it helps companies squeeze more value from their existing software infrastructure. Various industry analysts have highlighted that business process improvement, cost-reduction and improving efficiency are among firms' top 10 business priorities for 2011.

Skelta BPM 2011 can associate Skelta workflows with SharePoint context-specific events and configure alerts for business activity thresholds with real time email notification of violations of policies and SLAs. Users can design reusable declarative workflows and customise the BPM solution with Skelta's Forms Architecture for advanced reusability functions.
 
The new release can also build BPM-enabled composite applications rapidly to automate core processes in an organisation. These are built using processes, forms, rules, user management, task management and queues. Composition is accelerated by the use of visual toolkits and composite applications can be deployed independently or to work with other apps.
