Screenshots are Easy in Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 makes it easy to capture screenshots and then share them using the apps configured to allow sharing.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Anywhere in Windows 8.1 or a Windows app, open the Share charms menu (swipe from the right for touchscreens or hover the mouse cursor at the bottom right).

  2. When the Share menu appears, hit the drop down menu just below the Share title.

  3. Choose the Screenshot option.

  4. Once the Screenshot has been gathered, you'll be given options of apps to use for sharing.

Interestingly, if you try this in Desktop mode and run more than a single monitor, it will capture the images from all of the monitors at once and create a sort of image collage, like this:

Incidentally, for the next 8 days, Microsoft is running a contest where they randomly pick screenshots of the Windows 8.1 desktop that are shared to Twitter using the #MyStart hashtag.
