Q: When I run a Windows 8 "Modern" application as the local administrator account, the app won't start and I get an error--what do I do?

A: The application won't start and throws an error by design. First, by default, the Windows 8 local administrator account is disabled and has to be manually enabled before being used. Second, the new Windows 8 "Modern" applications (fka "Metro" applications) require the use of User Access Control (UAC) and since the local administrator account bypasses UAC, it isn't possible to use the local administrator account to run those  applications, and the error below will appear.

The only solution is to not use the built-in administrator account, which, as a best practice, shouldn't be used in any day-to-day activity or to install applications.
