A: An in-place upgrade for System Center 2012 Service Manager is available. However, the Update Rollup 2 must be installed on all servers prior to the upgrade to Service Manager SP1.  Update Rollup 2 is available for download from Microsoft.

Additionally the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Management Objects should be downloaded from the Microsoft download site (reboot after installing this before performing the upgrade). Back up the SQL Server databases used by Service Manager and the Data Warehouse.

Then Service Manager servers must be upgraded in the following order, which is performed simply by running the setup.exe from the SP1 media:

  • Data Warehouse management server

  • Service Manager management server

  • Service Manager Console (if separate servers)
