Q: How can I find out the size of Windows 8 "Modern" Applications on disk?

How to check the installation size of Windows 8 applications formerly known as "Metro-style" applications.

A: The new Windows 8 "Modern" (aka "Metro-style") applications don't install to the OS in the same way desktop applications do. To check the installation size for these applications, perform the following:

  1. Select the Settings charm.

  2. Click Change PC Settings.

  3. Select General from the navigation area.

  4. Scroll down in the information area to Available Storage and click View app sizes.

  5. The sizes of all Windows 8 "Modern" applications will be displayed
