New Surface Tablets Come with Windows 10, No Upgrade Required

If you've been in the market for a Surface 3 or Surface Pro 3 (and who isn't really?), now is probably the best time to kick that decision into the green zone.

The latest round of Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3's, available from the Microsoft Store, come pre-installed with Windows 10. Additionally, Microsoft is knocking off $150 from select Surface Pro 3's.

The Surface Pro 3 comes with Windows 10 Pro edition and the Surface 3 with Windows 10 Home. With the $150 discount on the Surface Pro 3's, here's what the new pricing looks like:

  • Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i5, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD $1149

  • Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SDD $1399

  • Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7, 8 GB of RAM, 512 GB SDD $1799

Incidentally, rumors of a Surface Pro 4 keep mounting. I've yet to write about the Surface Pro 4 on purpose as the majority of rumors have been speculation at best. However, some more detailed, more credible information suggests that the Surface Pro 4 should release in October, offer Windows Hello capability, come with Intel's Skylake processor, provide an addition hour and a half battery life, and keep the same form factor as the Surface Pro 3 (so you won't have to buy a new dock).
