There's no shortage of project management tools available, but perhaps few, if any, are tailored particularly to self-employed developers and other solo professionals. So says Bill Mild, an ASP.NET developer who wanted one tool for estimating, tracking, and invoicing development projects and, when he couldn't find such a tool on the market, created it himself. The tool, Primershee, which Mild has just released as a free trial service, is a professional project management solution for self-employed, independent contractors and other solo professionals.

"This is not a run-of-the-mill project management application," says Mild. "Rather, it is an online service which targets the unique need of the one-person development shop.  I wrote it because I was getting tired of using multiple tools, none of which perfectly addressed my situation, or bloated solutions for larger companies."

Primershee's essential features include:

  • Estimating

  • Basic document management

  • Task tracking/estimating

  • Time tracking against the original task estimates

  • Bug tracking

  • Invoicing

  • Simple accounts receivable

The Primershee site includes Help pages on a variety of topics to guide Primershee users through using the solution. Visit the Primershee website to learn more about the solution or sign up for the Primershee service.
