Move Windows 8.1 SkyDrive Cache

Q: Can I move the location of my local SkyDrive cache on Windows 8.1?

A: By default, SkyDrive (soon to be renamed OneDrive) uses a local cache for SkyDrive content that has been configured to be available offline. Also by default, the cache is found under the user's profile; for example, C:UsersSkyDrive. You can move the cache, if required, to another location:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Right-click SkyDrive in the navigation pane and select Properties.

  3. Select the Location tab, as the screen shot shows.

  4. Click Move.

  5. Select a new location, and click Select Folder.

The SkyDrive cache will now be moved to the new location.
