Microsoft Edge to Begin Supporting Extensions
Microsoft

Good news, Windows insiders! Your Microsoft Edge experience just improved. The Redmond company announced late Thursday afternoon that their Web browser will begin to support extensions, AKA the little browser plug-ins that add different capabilities to a Web browser like language translation, ad blocking or adding items to OneNote.

According to Microsoft Edge General Manager Drew DeBruyne:

The Windows Insider build will include three preview extensions: Microsoft Translator, an extension that automatically translates pages in over 50 different languages, a Mouse Gestures extension, and an early preview version of the popular Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES).  Later this year customers will find popular extensions from partners like AdBlock, Adblock Plus, Amazon, LastPass, Evernote and more.

The new Microsoft Edge and the preview extensions will be available initially to Insiders on the Fast Ring in build # 14291. Ultimately, users will be able to download future extensions via the Windows Store.

As of right now, the curious can check out the newly-launched preview page for Microsoft Edge extensions, and watch the demo of how to install extensions in Microsoft Edge.
