Microsoft Band Tip: Bike Tile May be the Best Option for Tracking Athletic Sports

Microsoft has made obvious fitness activity inclusions for Run, Bike, and Golf in its Microsoft Band. For other athletic sports such as soccer, hockey, snowboarding, etc., most people turn to the Run tile to capture the data. But, according to some fantastic reader tips, you might actually get more value out of using the Bike tile to track these events instead of the Run tile.

The Bike tile provides much of what the Run tile does, however, the speed readouts for the Bike activity tend to be tuned for better clarity. Imagine playing a 90-minute soccer game and the Band produces a map that shows distance and speed heat measurements, but also provides field position that can help a player figure determine if they’re playing a spot accurately. Now imagine a soccer team with each player outfitted with Microsoft Band 2 and the coach can track each and every position on the field to help teach better positioning, or understand why the defense broke down during a goal series.
