Microsoft Azure versus Amazon Web Services

It can be helpful when considering what cloud service your company might choose to understand their differences.

In these first two parts of a five video series on Channel 9 Keith Mayer and Gerald Tiu from Microsoft provide information for AWS Pros to understand Microsoft Azure in Part 1.

Then, in Part 2, they also compare the networking components on each service and then do a walk-through tutorial on how to build various networking services in Azure.

(Part 1) Microsoft Azure for Amazon AWS Cloud Professionals: Getting Started

As the leading public cloud platforms, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) each offer businesses a broad and deep set of capabilities with global coverage. Yet many organizations choose to use both platforms together for greater choice and flexibility, as well as to spread their risk and dependencies with a multi-cloud approach. Consulting companies and software vendors may also want to build on and use both Azure and AWS as this combination represents the majority of the cloud market demand.

To help decide which platform is right for your needs, we’re kicking off a new 5 part mini-series today showcasing and demoing Microsoft Azure features as well as comparing them to Amazon Web Services to see how they match up.

(Part 2) Microsoft Azure for Amazon AWS Cloud Professionals: Networking

In Part 2 of our Microsoft Azure for Amazon AWS Cloud Professionals series, Keith Mayer and Gerald Tiu take us through an in-depth comparison of the networking components between Azure and AWS as well as a comprehensive step-by step walkthrough of how to build VNets and Subnets, Hybrid Connectivity, Network Security groups and much, much more!

We will be sure to highlight as the other videos become available.

Enjoy the learning.

I served for 29 plus years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in November 2011. My work background in the Navy was telecommunications related so my hobby of computers fit well with what I did for the Navy. I consider myself a tech geek and enjoy most things in that arena.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.

I previously hosted the Observed Tech PODCAST for 10 years and 317 episodes and now host a new podcast called Faith, Tech, and Space.

I began contributing to Penton Technology websites in January 2015 and in April 2017 I was hired as the Senior Content Producer for Penton Technology which is now Informa Tech. In that role, I contribute to ITPro Today and cover operating systems, enterprise technology, and productivity.
