Microsoft announces SQL Server code-named “Denali” at PASS

At this year’s PASS conference in Seattle Microsoft announced the next release of SQL Server code-named “Denali”. Some of the important new features in the Denali release include:

  • SQL Server AlwaysOn  for improved availability

  • A new high performance column store technology code-named “Apollo”

  • A new BI and web development environment code-named Juneau”

  • A new web-based data visualization tool code-named “Crescent”

  • SQL Server Data Quality Services for improved data integration capabilities

  • Support for running SQL Server on Windows Server Core
