Microsoft Announces Its Miracast Adapter for Pre-order

I’m a big fan of Miracast technology. I have been using the Netgear Push2TV (PTV3000) adapter for quite a while. It’s a fantastic Miracast-enabling device that I’m able to travel with to provide screen casting capability wherever I go. I use it regularly to stream movies and TV from Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime to a remote television – usually in a hotel room. This, of course, allows me to keep my regular TV diet and make a remote location feel more like home.

Since March of this year, rumors have swirled that Microsoft would release a self-branded Miracast device, and even more recently an FCC filing showed that such a device had been approved and would soon be heading to production.

Today, Microsoft has officially unveiled the device, called the Microsoft Wireless Display adapter. I’m intent on acquiring one to test.
