Manage E-Discovery Across Your Network

Maybe you've already got an email archive in place—you're being proactive, wanting to be ready in case you get slapped with an e-discovery request. But how successful will you be at finding what you need in the archive when the time comes? And will you be able to search simultaneously in the email archive, in PSTs, across your network file shares, and on local client drives? If not, or if you're not sure, it might be time to look at a solution such as Sherpa Software's Discovery Attender for Exchange.
Discovery Attender is designed to pull together all these data sources for simple searching. The latest release, Discovery Attender 3.5, has been integrated with Sherpa Software's Archive Attender, adding the email archive piece to the solution. Discovery Attender's interface is wizard-driven and designed with nontechnical people in mind, letting you move search functions outside of the IT department—that's right, you can safely let the legal people take on this part of the process without fear that they're going to mess up your data.
Another of Discovery Attender 3.5's new features is the Combined Exception Log, which pulls together a list of any files the search is unable to access—for instance, something that's password protected—into a single list that you can act on. Marta Farensbach, product manager for Discovery Attender, said, "The biggest cost in discovery these days is the actual review of the data. So this tool helps you reduce your data set that you're presenting and perusing so that the review of data is more efficient and more cost-effective."
Other new features include the ability to export search results to .eml file format and an integrated text viewer with highlighted search hits. Sherpa also offers a suite of other products to help you manage your email infrastructure both on Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. For more information, visit Sherpa Software's website.
