John Wink Needs Feedback on Slowness After Installing Latest Windows 10 Cumulative Update
Microsoft is aware of a potential problem with the latest Windows 10 cumulative update and is asking for help testing solutions.
May 10, 2016
Last month, Microsoft engineer star, John Wink, took to the Internet airwaves to announce he was undertaking support for Microsoft updates over social media and Microsoft forum sources. This month, that effort is continuing.
John announced on the Patch Management email listserv earlier today that he and his team would be available over Twitter, Reddit and TechNet and then subsequently lofted a post on Reddit asking for feedback from users experiencing slow PC performance after installing this month’s cumulative update for Windows 10.
In the post, John suggests that Microsoft is already aware of potential problems and gives a proposed solution to test:
If you find that your PC is abnormally slow after installing the update, you may be seeing a problem that I’ve been trying to track down for a couple of weeks. Here’s something you can try to see if it alleviates the symptom. I’d love to hear the results of this test, and could really use your help in gathering additional information if indeed it rectifies the symptom for you. Please give this a shot and post your results to this thread. Thanks!

Your feedback is welcome in the Reddit thread: KB3156421 - Computer is slow after installing latest Cumulative Update
That Microsoft is reaching out to customers “where they live” is a good sign and I hope it continues. This will help alleviate some of the pains associated with patching computers that has plagued companies for several years. It doesn’t serve to fix overall quality problems, but being available for feedback is a welcome sign.
As Gabe Aul has become the face of the Windows 10 Insider program, it’s possible that John Wink could become the emissary of Patch Tuesday.
