IT/Dev Connections 2016 Speaker Highlight: Ståle Hansen

Part of an ongoing series, we're highlighting the excellent speakers we have handpicked to present phenomenal and extremely valuable content at the IT/Dev Connections conference. Want more? Get the Insider’s Scoop About IT/Dev Connections 2016 on September 8!

This speaker highlight is Ståle Hansen.

Ståle's IT/Dev Connection sessions:

Recently, we asked Ståle to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:

ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.

Ståle: My name is Ståle Hansen and I am the CEO at Advania AS in Norway. For the past 6 years I have been a Skype for Business MVP which now is called Office Servers and Services MVP. My passion is helping customers implement Skype for Business and succeeding with adoption. I have the privilege of working as a consultant within this field and have been doing so for the past 10 years across verticals. Most of the projects I have run include Enterprise Voice so I have a lot experience in that area.

I have had the honor of speaking at Lync Conference 2014 about Enterprise Voice which also where held at Aria. I also have talked at TechEd and Microsoft Ignite. I love sharing my hard earned experience and my goal is always that the attendees leave the talk with some real actionable knowledge.

I have been married for 12 years and my wife works within accounting and is one of the hardest working individuals I know. She runs her own company and is the financial advisor at Advania. We have an eight-year-old boy and we love vacationing in Orlando. I think we have been there six times the past five years. Gotta love those rollercoasters :)

ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.

Ståle: How I design global voice solutions with Skype for Business – A two way session where we get to dive in to global voice design best practices and going outside the comfort zone of what is recommended but still works as long as you know what you are doing. I see that enterprise voice is taking off globally and there is a lot of different options now with cloud pbx, but knowing when to choose which platform is not easy, that is what this session is all about.

Succeeding with Skype for Business Meeting Broadcast – I will share my experiences using Meeting Broadcast since preview. Will share tips and tricks, hardware advice and how to scale it in larger networks. Meeting Broadcast is an awesome way to do those one to many streams and now with Questions and Answers it can be a true two-way platform as well. The easy way to consume the stream across devices makes it really accessible and if you are late for a stream, you can start from the start. This session is all about getting started building on my experiences.

ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?

Ståle: I always want attendees to leave my sessions with some real actionable knowledge that they can execute on the very first day when they return to work.

ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?

Ståle: What excites me the most is the focus on networking at IT/Dev Connections. This is an "intimate" conference where everyone is there to learn and you should expect to find like minded people you can share some war stories with and discuss your everyday challenges with. I am really looking forward to that.

ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?

Ståle: Well for me as an Office Servers and Services MVP I am really amazed when thinking of all the feedback Microsoft is getting from their customers running in Office 365 vs customers running servers on-premises. This is unprecedented and has never happened at this scale before and will lead to some crazy new productivity features and possibilities in the near future.

ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.

Ståle: Riding rollercoasters with my son, gotta love the thrill. I happen to live next door to the biggest theme park in Norway :) I also love everything Star Wars and it is a good time to be a fan at the moment :)
