This speaker highlight is Janaka Rangama.
Janaka's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked Janaka to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.
Janaka: I'm Janaka Rangama from Sri Lanka. I'm a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Microsoft Azure Architect & an Open Source Enthusiast. Currently I'm the Enterprise Cloud Architect at VirtusaPolaris, a leading IT Consultancy and Outsourcing company based in Boston, US. I used to be a musician 10 years ago and right after high school I turned out to be an IT Ninja. I'm newly married to the love of my life Aloka and I live in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.
Janaka: I'm presenting three sessions; Linux IaaS on Azure, Azure Site Recovery and Azure Stack Resource Providers. Linux being a the most popular workload on Azure, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery being the top priority for any enterprise moving to the cloud and finally hybrid cloud integration being the new normal I think that these three sessions will add value to the attendees.
ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?
Janaka: Since my sessions are focused more or less on hybrid cloud attendees can expect a good understanding on the following:
· Automating Linux VM deployment in Azure
· Troubleshooting deployment, management and monitoring issues in Linux IaaS VMs
· Linux VM hardening in Azure
· Azure Site Recovery deployment for different workloads
· Best practices, hacks, pitfalls in ASR
· Troubleshooting common ASR issues
· Deploying Microsoft & 3rd party Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) services in Azure Stack,
· Troubleshooting deployment and configuration issues for RPs,
· Understanding and leveraging Azure Resource Manager templates in Azure Stack.
ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?
Janaka: IT/Dev connections is where IT Professionals and Developers meet, engage with top experts from all over the world to advance their skills towards the next generation of technologies. At IT/Dev Connections, I will get the chance to share my knowledge and gather knowledge from the community and this is why I want to be there.
ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?
Janaka: Cloud without no doubt. 6 years back I never imagined that I will become a Cloud Architect. The way that cloud has transformed the technology and our lives is impressive.
ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime?
Janaka: Music. I started my career in IT at a very young age at plan to retire young from IT. And when I do, I think I will be a musician once again. Also as an islander, I love to travel and watch and play Cricket (Yes, it is an actual sport) as well.
