This speaker highlight is Denny Cherry.
Denny's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked Denny to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.
Denny: Denny Cherry is the owner and principal consultant for Denny Cherry & Associates Consulting and has over a decade of experience working with platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Hyper-V, vSphere and Enterprise Storage solutions. Denny’s areas of technical expertise include system architecture, performance tuning, security, replication and troubleshooting. Denny currently holds several of the Microsoft Certifications related to SQL Server for versions 2000 through 2014 including the Microsoft Certified Master as well as being a Microsoft MVP for several years. Denny has written several books and dozens of technical articles on SQL Server management and how SQL Server integrates with various other technologies.
ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?
Denny: Personally I love being able to attend Dev Connections because of the breadth of technologies which are covered at the event. If there are sessions on Windows Server, or PowerShell, or C# that I want to attend, those are all available for me to attend in a single event.
ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?
Denny: The biggest technology which is changing the IT field today is definitely cloud. Being able to spin up services and get things running in a very short period of time is a huge win for companies looking to spin up services quickly, both large and small. As a consultant we’ve been moving large and small workloads to various cloud platforms for years now with great success for our clients.
ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.
Denny: Outside of work I enjoying traveling and seeing new places (which I end up doing a lot for work) as well as taking longish motorcycle rides on my Indian Chieftain. When I can combine travel and motorcycle rides I’m a happy camper.
The thing that irks me the most is inconsistencies in product releases. My whipping boy this month is the Azure PowerShell team as they introduced a bug in Azure PowerShell 1.4 which hasn’t been fixed as of yet (it’s supposed to be fixed in August 2016) which only effects people who have large numbers of Azure Subscriptions authorized on their account, which as a consultant I do.
