This speaker highlight is Alan Byrne.
Alan's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked Alan to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.
Alan: Hi, my name is Alan and I’m an Australian/Swiss DevOps nerd, currently living in London. I try and automate every single task I can, not because I’m lazy but so that I can spend the time it frees up learning about new technologies.
ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.
Alan: I will be talking about how we use Microsoft PowerShell and the new Office 365 APIs to manage literally millions of users with only three technical staff. If you manage a large Office 365 system and find yourself being throttled in PowerShell or doing tedious repetitive tasks, I can help you efficiently automate them.
ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?
Alan: Real world examples of how to manage hundreds of thousands of objects on Office 365 at a time.
ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?
Alan: I’ll be coming to IT/Dev Connections directly from Microsoft Ignite a week earlier. It will be refreshing to hang out with other IT professionals in an environment that isn’t filled with people solely drinking the Microsoft Kool-Aid.
ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?
Alan: Definitely Machine Learning. There is so much data being collected out there that people can’t possibly think.
ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.
Alan: Travelling and eating. My whole life is driven by the insatiable need to go to as many new places as I can to meet local people and hear their stories over a good meal. I’m irked by people who have never stepped foot out of their own comfort zone, the world is an amazing place – go out and experience it!
