HP Powers Move to Cloud for Enterprises and Service Providers

New platforms focused on cloud deployment, sourcing, security and education

HP has unveiled a new Cloud Solutions platform aimed at both enterprises and service providers encompassing new approaches to deployment of private, public and hybrid clouds.

HP Cloud Solutions is based on the company’s HP Converged Infrastructure backbone and offers a comprehensive approach to hardware, software, services and programs aimed at rapid and secure delivery of IT as a service, according to the company.

From a service provider standpoint, HP CloudSystem integrates with Alcatel-Lucent infrastructure to let cloud services providers deliver cloud services using carrier-class networks. The previously announced HP CloudAgile Service Provider Program, meanwhile, is designed to offer service providers expanded sales reach, an enhanced services portfolio and an accelerated sales cycle through direct access to HP’s global sales force. HP recently expanded the program with its first European partners and has added new certified hosting options.

HP CloudSystem Matrix 7.0 is the core operating environment that powers HP CloudSystem. HP claims it provides “push-button” access to externally sourced cloud-based IT resources It also includes automatic, on-demand provisioning of HP 3PAR storage to reduce errors and speed deployment of new services.

The company’s HP Cloud Protection Program, meanwhile, offers security for hybrid cloud deployments The new program includes strategy, roadmap, design and implementation services built on a common reference architecture that is supported by a Cloud Protection Center of Excellence where clients can test HP solutions as well as partners and third-party products that support cloud and virtualization protection.       

HP’s new Enterprise Cloud Services automates distribution of application workloads across multiple servers to improve application performance in the enterprise. It also supports new backup and restore options. The HP Enterprise Cloud Services for SAP Development and Sandbox Solution lets enterprise evaluate and prototype functionality of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning software via a virtual private cloud, using a flexible, consumption-based model.       

From an education standpoint, HP is offering new HP ExpertONE certifications: HP ASE Cloud Architect, HP ASE Cloud Integrator and HP ASE Master Cloud Integrator. The company also is expanding its HP ExpertONE program to include five of the industry’s largest independent commercial training organizations.
